Travel Insurance For Over-65s
EDM number 538 in 2006-07, proposed by David Heyes on 19/12/2006.
That this House notes with concern that, despite the fact that the population of the UK is ageing, people aged over 65 years are finding it increasingly difficult to access travel insurance, are routinely excluded from policies included with holiday packages, are also excluded from some directly purchased travel insurance multi-trip policies after the age of 70 years and single trip policies after the age of 85 years regardless of health status with any cover that is available being a great deal more expensive than that offered to under-65s; and urges the travel industry and providers of travel insurance to put in place a system that is fairer to its older customers.
