Ambassadorial Appointments

That this House welcomes the news of the appointment of Sir Nigel Sheinwald and John Sawers as Her Majesty's Ambassadors to the United States and the United Nations, respectively; further congratulates Kim Darroch on his appointment as Permanent Representative to the European Union; recognises that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is the premier diplomatic service in the world and these appointments reflect the great expertise and dedication found within the Department; notes that relations with the United Nations, the European Union and the United States are three of the most important relationships for the UK; and believes that they will continue to improve and remain effective under these new appointees.
