Support For UK Packaging Industry
EDM number 405 in 2006-07, proposed by Eric Illsley on 05/12/2006.
That this House recognises the significant contribution which the packaging industry makes to the UK economy, particularly through the provision of safe, efficient and hygienic food supply chains; calls upon the Government to ensure that the UK has a healthy manufacturing base to protect against potential global threats to these essential supplies; further recognises the contribution made by the packaging industry to the efficient use of resources and their achievements in the reuse and recycling of those resources; and notes that much of today's packaging is required for consumers who continue to demand hygienic, safe, well preserved, clean, wholesome and fresh products delivered at their convenience.
