CHILDREN'S SOCIETY 125TH ANNIVERSARY
EDM number 380 in 2006-07, proposed by Helen Southworth on 04/12/2006.
That this House congratulates The Children's Society on its 125th anniversary; commends the fact that since 1881, when the organisation was founded by Edward Rudolf, it has been committed to helping children who are in trouble, rejected or at risk; recognises the value of its close links with the Church of England; welcomes its continued work with the children at risk on the streets, children in trouble with the law, young refugees and disabled children and the recent establishment of The Good Childhood Inquiry; and supports its aims to provide services to over 50,000 children each year while campaigning to create positive change for thousands more.
