EDM number 303 in 2006-07, proposed by John Leech on 27/11/2006.

That this House recognises the successful public/private partnership that has resulted in the City of Manchester leading the world in the delivery of a powerful wireless communications network capable of supporting data, voice and video communication; congratulates the Greater Manchester Police and Manchester City Council for their work in using the wireless network to support flexible CCTV monitoring that reflects local needs and which improves security for the public at large; and applauds the continued investment by the wireless network operator, Manchester Metronet, that has used North West based venture capital investment over a period of years to develop and complete the network infrastructure that brings unparalleled advantages to Manchester based public/private sector organisations when compared with those based in other United Kingdom cities.
