Model Mosque Competition

EDM number 2172 in 2006-07, proposed by Sarah Teather on 23/10/2007.

That this House welcomes the Islam Channel's Model Mosque competition to find the best mosque in the UK; notes that many mosques make an important and substantial contribution to their local communities; believes that mosques have a vital role to play in reaching out to both Muslims and non-Muslims and building strong community relations; congratulates the Mosque and Islamic Centre of Brent in Cricklewood on reaching the final eight of the competition out of 1,000 mosques originally considered; recognises the excellent work of Brent Mosque including police surgeries, immigration and medical advice, English and IT courses, and women's and teenagers' classes; supports the competition's aim of helping mosques from around the UK to discuss and share best practice; believes Brent Mosque to be an excellent example of best practice; and supports Brent Mosque's bid to win the Model Mosque competition.
