Disabled Access To Train Services
EDM number 2163 in 2006-07, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 22/10/2007.
That this House notes that many railway stations do not have verbal announcements before trains arrive or relating to delays and platform alterations, making it very difficult for those who are blind or visually impaired to use rail services; further notes that not all railway stations have either verbal announcements or electronic displays, which places those who are deaf or visually impaired at a great disadvantage when trying to use train services; and calls on the Government to work with the rail operators in order to ensure that all railway stations are disabled-friendly.
