Open Letter To The Prime Minister On Agency Workers
EDM number 2156 in 2006-07, proposed by John McDonnell on 19/10/2007.
That this House welcomes the open letter to the Prime Minister calling for equal treatment for agency workers, which has been signed by the general secretaries of 10 trade unions and many Labour hon. Members; notes that around one million agency workers have fewer rights at work over pay, pensions, overtime rates, holiday and sick leave than other workers; congratulates the hon. Member for Newcastle-under-Lyme for his efforts to legislate on this issue in the current session; and therefore calls on the Government to include a Temporary and Agency Workers' Bill as part of the legislative programme in the Queen's Speech on 6th November.
This motion has been signed by a total of 37 MPs.
