National Campaign For Cardiac Rehabilitation

EDM number 1993 in 2006-07, proposed by Phil Willis on 24/07/2007.

That this House supports the National Campaign for Cardiac Rehabilitation backed by the British Heart Foundation, the British Association for Cardiac Rehabilitation and associated patient groups; recognises that cardiac rehabilitation is a treatment which improves quality of life for people living with cardiovascular disease and can reduce the risk of dying prematurely from the disease by 26 per cent; understands that despite this, in the UK 60 per cent. of the patients who need it do not have access to it; recognises that cardiac rehabilitation is extremely cost-effective at a cost of only around £550 per patient; and supports the campaign's call for every heart patient to have access to a high quality cardiac rehabilitation programme by the end of 2010.

This motion has been signed by a total of 58 MPs.
