Impact Of Flooding On Farming Communities

EDM number 1988 in 2006-07, proposed by Graham Stuart on 24/07/2007.

That this House recognises the scale of flooding experienced across the East Riding of Yorkshire, where nearly 72 mm (2.8ins) of rain fell in just 24 hours; notes that hundreds of farmers have been affected, with thousands of acres of land still under water; notes that thousands of pounds worth of cereal, vegetables and pea crops have been destroyed and that some bankruptcies will be inevitable as a result; and calls on the Government to offer assistance, financial or otherwise, to those farmers who have been hit by the flooding.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
