Review Of Northern Ireland Civil Service Recruitment
EDM number 1979 in 2006-07, proposed by Gregory Campbell on 23/07/2007.
That this House welcomes the recent announcement by the Department for Finance and Personnel in Northern Ireland of an Article 55 of the Fair Employment and Treatment (NI) Order 1998 review of Civil Service employment policies and how it offers to people of different backgrounds the prospect of employment; expresses the hope that this review will provide the reality of an improving employment pattern for Roman Catholics among the small number of senior grades but a worsening pattern for Protestants in the much more numerous junior grades; and looks forward to an outcome that will offer equitable participation in recruitment across all pay grades in the Civil Service in Northern Ireland.
