Sunderland Crime Levels

EDM number 194 in 2006-07, proposed by Fraser Kemp on 21/11/2006.

That this House welcomes the reduction in crime in the Sunderland Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership Area over the past three years; notes that the incidence of burglary in a dwelling has dropped from 11 in 1,000 people in 2002-03 to five in 1,000 people in 2005-06; also notes that the incidence of violence against the person dropped from 23 in 1,000 per population in 2002-03 to 19 in 1,000 in 2005-06; further notes that the incidence of theft and the handling of stolen goods has dropped from 48 in 1,000 people in 2002-03 to 33 in 1,000 per population in 2005-06; also notes that the incidence of violent crime overall has dropped from 25 per 1,000 of population in 2002-03 to 21 per 1,000 people in 2005-06; and congratulates the police and community of the Sunderland area in this achievement.
