Red Tractor Week

EDM number 1904 in 2006-07, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 12/07/2007.

That this House notes Red Tractor Week on 9th to 15th July; congratulates Assured Food Standards, the independent organisation set up to manage the Red Tractor mark, which represents the interests of each of the key links, including the National Farmers' Union, the Ulster Farmers' Union, the Meat and Livestock Commission, Dairy UK and the British Retail Consortium, observed by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Food and Drink Federation; recognises that the scheme helps shoppers easily to find UK-produced fresh food and allows producers to use a distinctive logo on packs of foods which meet its strict criteria covering animal welfare, food transport and packing; and calls on the Government to work in close alliance with farmers, processors and retailers to promote British produce and support UK farming.

This motion has been signed by a total of 45 MPs.
