Reusable Nappy Schemes
EDM number 1786 in 2006-07, proposed by David Taylor on 27/06/2007.
That this House welcomes the Government's Waste Strategy for England; observes that one of the most effective means of reducing the amount of waste going to landfill is to encourage the use of reusable nappies instead of the three billion disposable nappies sent to landfill each year; and invites the Government to consider how best it might achieve this objective both by actively promoting local reusable nappy schemes and by introducing measures to limit the current freedom enjoyed by the manufacturers of disposable nappies to externalise the enormous costs of the disposal of their product.
