Impacts Of Livestock Disease
EDM number 173 in 2006-07, proposed by Timothy Farron on 20/11/2006.
That this House believes that the economic, social and emotional costs of livestock disease fall most heavily on farmers, their families and their communities; recalls the huge cost to rural communities of the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001; notes the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs consultation which focuses on the financial cost of animal disease outbreaks; and opposes any move to place an animal disease levy on farmers, as this would add insult to injury in cases of future outbreaks of disease.
This motion has been signed by a total of 28 MPs.
