West London Tram
EDM number 1710 in 2006-07, proposed by Greg Hands on 14/06/2007.
That this House urges Transport for London to abandon its plans for the West London Tram linking the boroughs of Hillingdon, Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham; regards the estimated cost of £648 million as too high and not representing value for money; worries at the effects of the 45 metre long vehicles on other road users and its likely effect on rat-running and displaced traffic; regrets the likely devastation to the unusually mixed and diverse retail offer on many parts of the Uxbridge Road; and urges a re-think before costs escalate further.
