Affordable Housing In Redbridge
EDM number 1699 in 2006-07, proposed by Mike Gapes on 14/06/2007.
That this House believes that the decision by Conservative councillors on Redbridge Borough Council to try and set a target of new affordable housing at only 25 per cent. is dreadful news for anyone in Redbridge hoping for a decent new home; notes that Redbridge has over 2,700 families in temporary accommodation whilst the average house price in Redbridge is now nine times the average salary; is dismayed that the 25 per cent. target falls well short of the Mayor of London's statutory London Plan target that 50 per cent. of all new homes should be affordable; and calls on the Council to meet its responsibilities to provide the affordable homes local people in Redbridge need.
This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
