Natwest Cricket Force Weekend

EDM number 1590 in 2006-07, proposed by David Wilshire on 04/06/2007.

That this House congratulates NatWest Cricket Force 2007, the biggest volunteering initiative in British sport, which took place between 30th March and 1st April at more than 1,200 community cricket clubs across the country, to rejuvenate the nation's cricket facilities and prepare clubs for the coming season; notes the contribution of the 80,000 volunteers who participated, and in particular the vital role they play in cricket at grassroots level; further notes that the scheme has enjoyed another huge rise in participants for the third successful year, and that this year's event was the biggest yet; calls on the Government to look to such volunteering schemes in future as a way of engaging people with their local communities; and hopes that the weekend will mark the beginning of another successful cricket season for all those involved in the game.

This motion has been signed by a total of 41 MPs.
