Compensation For Miners With Knee Injuries

EDM number 1485 in 2006-07, proposed by Elfyn Llwyd on 16/05/2007.

That this House calls on the Government to acknowledge the suffering of thousands of coal miners, due to crippling knee injuries, such as cartilage damage and osteoarthritis, as a result of their work in the mines; and further calls on the Department of Trade and Industry to take steps to reduce the length and cost of the legal process for miners claiming compensation by agreeing to enter into realistic mediation talks with a view to achieving a fair settlement.
