Forced Adoptions

EDM number 146 in 2006-07, proposed by John Hemming on 20/11/2006.

That this House notes the impact on both the birth family and adoptive family when it is shown that the basis upon which a child was removed from its birth family and placed with an adoptive family was unjust; and calls for a review of the rules that apply in contested adoptions (now placements) which should include the standard of proof, scrutiny and whether or not a jury should be required in such cases.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
