Whaling (No. 2)
EDM number 1434 in 2006-07, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 09/05/2007.
That this House expresses deep concern at the relentless increase in whales killed by Japan, Iceland and Norway and their pressure to overturn the moratorium on commercial whaling and the ban on international trade in whale products; welcomes the campaign by the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society to stop commercial whaling; congratulates the Government for its recent commitment to regaining a conservation majority at the International Whaling Commission; and strongly believes that for the UK to be the most effective advocate for whale conservation, the issue needs to be elevated to the Prime Minister's agenda and adequately resourced.
