Division Of The Home Office And Creation Of A Ministry Of Justice
EDM number 1358 in 2006-07, proposed by Keith Vaz on 26/04/2007.
That this House welcomes the creation of a Ministry of Justice and the reorganisation of the Home Office; however, notes that the creation of a Ministry of Justice will have severe implications for the relationship between the Government and the judiciary; further notes statements by Lord Woolf that changes to the United Kingdom's unwritten constitution are taking place without public consultation; is concerned that not enough time has been given to consider the issues fully before the Ministry of Justice is expected to take form; and believes that Parliament should be given the opportunity to debate this departmental reorganisation.
