Ticket Touting At International Cricket Matches
EDM number 1349 in 2006-07, proposed by Andrew Miller on 25/04/2007.
That this House notes that ticket touting creates a number of problems for cricket and other major sports as it diverts precious resources, has a negative impact on sports fans who are priced out of events and creates public order concerns; further notes that recent independent research carried out for the English Cricket Board shows that 76 per cent. of people agree that there should be regulation or legislation on ticket sales to sporting events to prevent touts selling them at greater than face value; and calls upon the Government to consider making it an offence to tout tickets for international cricket matches in the same way as proposed for the 2012 Olympics.
