Toilets On Trains
EDM number 1286 in 2006-07, proposed by David Lepper on 17/04/2007.
That this House notes with concern that there is no legal requirement for the train operating companies to provide and maintain toilets on their trains other than those for wheelchair users and that when these are out of service the Rail Vehicle Accessibility Regulations 1998 allow the operator six days to rectify the problems before it is considered to be in breach of the regulations; believes that this situation is totally unacceptable, not only for wheelchair users and those with particular disabilities or medical conditions but for all rail passengers; and calls on the Government to revise the regulations or introduce new legislation to require the train operating companies to provide and maintain toilets on their trains for all passengers.
