Television Licensing Authority Correspondence

EDM number 1188 in 2006-07, proposed by David Maclean on 21/03/2007.

That this House notes the intemperate tone taken on all correspondence issued by the Television Licensing Authority even in initial approaches; further notes that there is an arrogant assumption that every property inevitably has a television with dire threats of prosecution even when informed by residents that they do not possess a television receiver; is concerned at the distress caused to elderly people from these threats; is dismayed that even letters of apology by the Television Licensing Authority are couched in grudging terms; and calls on the Television Licensing Authority to adopt a more decent and less threatening approach.

This motion has been signed by a total of 39 MPs.
