That this House congratulates the British Retail Consortium on developing a pilot scheme to display publicly energy performance certificates for retail premises; supports this retail initiative designed to raise awareness of the importance of energy efficiency amongst consumers, as well as to encourage retail employees to reduce the carbon footprint of their workplace; recognises that many retailers are committed to acting in an environmentally responsible way; acknowledges that retailers are in a strong position to deliver carbon reductions and that this is only one of a number of measures they are taking to achieve this; and welcomes this initiative from the sector to establish a voluntary scheme in collaboration with the Government.
