Abolition Of The Disabled Facilities Grant Means Test In England

EDM number 903 in 2005-06, proposed by Roger Berry on 31/10/2005.

That this House warmly welcomes the decision by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister to abolish the unfair disabled facilities grant means test from next December; notes that this decision will make it easier for families, particularly those on low incomes, to get funding to make vital adaptations to their homes to care for their disabled child; welcomes the extra funding for the disabled facilities grant to £121 million in 2006-07; further notes that this decision has been welcomed by NCH children's charity, MENCAP and the many other charities who have campaigned for abolition of the unfair means test; and believes that this decision will significantly improve the quality of life for many families with disabled children in England.

This motion has been signed by a total of 64 MPs.
