Homophobic Attacks
EDM number 866 in 2005-06, proposed by Stephen Williams on 26/10/2005.
That this House notes with alarm the increase in homophobic violence across the country; acknowledges the vital work undertaken by groups representing lesbians, gay men and bisexuals supporting victims of homophobic attacks; recognises the progress that has been made by police forces in understanding the issues relating to homophobic attacks, but urges the Metropolitan Police and all other police forces to review and improve further the way in which they gather data on this serious issue; and believes politicians and religious leaders all have a responsibility to ensure a culture of tolerance and acceptance exists at all levels of society.
