Access To Internet From Parliament
EDM number 860 in 2005-06, proposed by John Hemming on 25/10/2005.
That this House notes that the Parliamentary Communications Directorate does not permit access to the internet through the parliamentary network using well-known ports, such as 110 for Post Office Protocol, nor does it allow honourable Members' own computers to attach to the internet in this way using the parliamentary network; and calls for the establishment of access for honourable Members to a low security environment (jungle or DMZ) which will enable honourable Members to use the internet fully without compromising the security of those who wish to remain within the secured network.
