Ban On Import Of Birds

EDM number 854 in 2005-06, proposed by David Crausby on 25/10/2005.

That this House welcomes the decision by the European Commission to consider a complete ban on the import of pet birds due to concerns about avian influenza and infection arriving among pet bird imports; and recognises the need for immediate, cautious but positive action to close one potential transmission route thus containing the virus and preventing the spread of this deadly disease.

This motion has been signed by a total of 63 MPs.
