Free Television Licences For Over 65s
EDM number 835 in 2005-06, proposed by Eddie McGrady on 24/10/2005.
That this House calls for the introduction of free television licences for households with someone aged 65 years and over in view of the BBC's bid to increase the licence fee by 2.3 per cent. above inflation; notes that this concession is presently available to households with someone aged 75 years and over; and believes this should be extended to those aged 65 years and over in line with other secondary benefits provided to this age-group.
