Ticket Machine Provision By South West Trains And Other Train Operating Companies

EDM number 832 in 2005-06, proposed by Andrew Mackinlay on 24/10/2005.

That this House deplores the failure of train operators generally and South West trains in particular adequately to maintain their ticket machines or, when they are inoperable, to ensure other reasonable alternative arrangements are made available for customers to purchase tickets without either inordinate queuing and delays or the anxiety of travelling without tickets and the danger of the false accusation of fare dodging; and calls for the repeated failure by the operators in meeting their obligations to customers wishing to pay their fares to result in severe financial penalties for the operators.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
