Sport England Everyday Sport Campaign

EDM number 821 in 2005-06, proposed by Derek Wyatt on 21/10/2005.

That this House congratulates Sport England on the launch of its Everyday Sport campaign following the successful regional launch in the North East earlier this year; welcomes the campaign as a sensible and accessible method to encourage more people to get active and participate in physical activity and sport by increasing the awareness of the importance and benefits of physical activity; believes that the campaign will help to increase participation in sport and physical activity by three per cent. over the next three years; acknowledges the need for such a campaign and the benefits it will help produce, including minimising the number of obesity-related illnesses, helping to reduce obesity levels, reducing the burden on the National Health Service, reducing the number of sick days from work, building safer and stronger communities and reducing stress and improving mental health; and calls on the Government to support a national information campaign.

This motion has been signed by a total of 43 MPs.
