PRIMARY CARE TRUSTS' CLINICAL STAFF

That this House is alarmed by reports that NHS primary care trusts' senior personnel are discussing plans for their organisations to become commissioning only bodies by 2008, and to divest themselves of their clinical staff, including health visitors, district nurses, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, community mental health workers, other community based workers and others to external providers; believes such a strategy to be wrong, misguided and against the very principles of the National Health Service; and calls upon the Government to call a halt to such arrant nonsense forthwith.
