Voter Registration

EDM number 764 in 2005-06, proposed by Brian Iddon on 13/10/2005.

That this House notes that many of those eligible to vote are not registered; urges the Government to press local authorities, especially where voter registration is low, to review their procedures and do everything within their powers to encourage people to register to vote; calls on the Government to consider automatic registration for those residents on other registers, such as the council tax register; and rejects the Electoral Commission's proposal for individual registration.
