leave out from `further' to end and insert 'further notes, however, that the Minister of State for Health has already stated in further correspondence to the honourable Member for Congleton, dated 30th September, that it is not acceptable for primary care trusts (PCTs) and other health bodies to use the lack of National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidance as an excuse for refusing to consider evidence in reaching decisions on whether to make available new treatments on the NHS, and that the Department of Health has made it clear to health bodies, including PCTs, that they should not withhold funding for treatments because NICE guidance is not available.'.
