British Medical Association Report On Nhs Trusts

EDM number 720 in 2005-06, proposed by Timothy Farron on 11/10/2005.

That this House notes the recent BMA report suggesting that 385 of the 530 NHS trusts in England are facing deficits and that half of those in deficit are planning to make cuts in health service provision; calls upon the Secretary of State for Health to intervene to prevent loss of vital health services as a result of these cuts; calls on the Government urgently to review its initial costings for initiatives such as Agenda for Change, new national pay conditions arrangements for NHS staff and the new General Medical Services contract, and to ensure trusts are adequately funded particularly taking into account the needs of rural areas; and further calls on the Government to consider revising the funding formula for rural areas in the future.

This motion has been signed by a total of 31 MPs.
