SENIOR DIRECTORS' BONUSES AT NETWORK RAIL

EDM number 677 in 2005-06, proposed by Rob Marris on 21/07/2005.

That this House notes that Network Rail has yet to ensure that the performance of the rail system has returned to its pre-Hatfield level; further notes that the Office of Rail Regulation has criticised Network Rail for failing to meet its investment and renewal targets and for breaching its operating licence by failing to provide timetable information timeously enough to enable the advance purchase of discounted passenger tickets not later than 12 weeks prior to the date of travel; expresses its great surprise at Network Rail's plans to pay to four of its senior directors large bonuses of up to £250,000 equivalent to more than 50 per cent. of their salaries, whilst stifling discussion of this issue at its 2005 Annual General Meeting; and urges the company to conduct forthwith a thorough and transparent review of its directors' bonus scheme.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
