Manufacturing In Bridgend And Ogmore

EDM number 635 in 2005-06, proposed by Madeleine Moon on 19/07/2005.

That this House notes the changes affecting manufacturing in the Bridgend and Ogmore constituencies; recognises that the future for the skilled workforce in these constituencies lies in attracting specialist, high-value product development to the area along with further development of the Sony Digital Technium; and further recognises the importance of the partnership between the GMB, Amicus and Usdaw unions, the receivers Ernst and Young and the Welsh Development Agency and staff of the Economic Development Unit at Bridgend County Borough Council in attracting the inward investment needed to provide skilled well-paid jobs and to ensure that companies such as Days Healthcare receive support to expand and develop their workforce and to ensure that manufacturing will continue to play a primary role in the economy of these two constituencies and neighbouring areas.

This motion has been signed by a total of 69 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
