Control Of Head Lice

EDM number 570 in 2005-06, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 12/07/2005.

That this House notes with concern that the Department of Health leaflet The Prevention and Treatment of Head Lice, the only free leaflet giving impartial advice, which schools find indispensable, is out of print; recognises the role this leaflet plays in informing schools of the whole school bug busting approach to detection, developed by the charity Community Hygiene Concern to prevent head lice from circulating; congratulates Community Hygiene Concern on the considerable savings in professional time and on NHS-funded treatment falling to the primary care trusts where the bug busting approach is promoted; and calls for the Department of Health and the Department for Education and Skills to continue to meet their obligations in maintaining the working partnerships with Community Hygiene Concern, which teaches children and their parents successful self-help in controlling head lice.

This motion has been signed by a total of 56 MPs.
