Silent Calls

EDM number 540 in 2005-06, proposed by John Hemming on 07/07/2005.

That this House notes the growing problem with repetitive, nuisance, automated phone calls; recognises the particular anxiety caused by silent calls; further recognises the wider problem of other repetitive, nuisance, automated calls; welcomes the recent action by Ofcom in investigating certain companies as to their use of predictive dialers; looks forward to Ofcom doing its job properly by using the powers it already has to prevent silent calls; and calls for the Government to take action to ensure that companies do not cause nuisance in the UK from offshore locations.

This motion has been signed by a total of 58 MPs.
