Routemaster Routes 14 And 22
EDM number 517 in 2005-06, proposed by Greg Hands on 06/07/2005.
That this House expresses concern at plans to retire the Routemaster series of buses from the 14 and 22 routes, which operate from Putney to Westminster via Hammersmith and Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea, on 22nd July; notes that Routemaster buses have been a familiar sight around this part of London for half a century; acknowledges the popularity of the buses among Londoners; further notes the global recognition of the Routemaster as a symbol of London; and urges the Mayor of London and Transport for London to keep the popular Routemasters on the road.
