Farm Tax

EDM number 513 in 2005-06, proposed by Paul Flynn on 06/07/2005.

That this House deplores the UK's use of the Common Agricultural Policy as state charity and income support for millionaires including, between 2002 and 2004, sums of £2.2 million to Sir Richard Sutton, £1.5 million to the Vestey family, £2.5 million to Alan Turner, £900,000 each to the Duke of Radnor, the Earl of Plymouth and the Duke of Richmond, £799,000 to the Duke of Westminster, £700,000 to Her Majesty the Queen and £300,000 to the Duchy of Cornwall; is appalled that the average UK family pays £16 per week in farm tax on subsidies and the world's highest food prices; and calls for action to rescue British farming from the dependency culture and for an end to export subsidies and trade tariffs that undermine the economies of the developing world.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
