Trophy Hunting
EDM number 501 in 2005-06, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 05/07/2005.
That this House condemns the trophy hunting industry; notes that every year, travel companies make millions of pounds from British and other European citizens who buy package tours to Africa, North America, Eastern Europe and Asia; recognises that once there, these big game hunters slaughter tens of thousands of animals, many of which are listed by the UN Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species as at risk, endangered or bordering on extinction; and calls on the Government to work with other countries and wildlife organisations to ensure that endangered species are protected and that trophy hunting is banned.
This motion has been signed by a total of 58 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
