Integrated Kent Rail Franchise

EDM number 435 in 2005-06, proposed by Mark Field on 28/06/2005.

That this House expresses its concern that the Strategic Rail Authority's (SRA) proposals for the Integrated Kent Franchise (IKF) do not plan for additional services into the railway termini which serve London's international business sector, which is expected to grow by 100,000 over the next 15 years; notes that the SRA has not provided data to justify its proposed reduction in direct services to those stations; further notes that the IKF proposals are compromised by the failure to fit out the Thameslink Midland Road Station and also by the lack of track capacity in the London Bridge and Blackfriars areas; and urges the SRA to review its proposals so as to improve commuters' journeys to all IKF London terminals and to prepare for a likely increase in passenger volume.
