EUROPEAN UNION FOREIGN MINISTERS' MEETING AT NEWPORT

EDM number 432 in 2005-06, proposed by Paul Flynn on 28/06/2005.

That this House applauds the inspired choice of Newport as the venue for the European Union Foreign Ministers' September meeting on global warming and Africa; notes the city's leading environmental work, including Europe's largest and most efficient fridge disposal plant handling 700,000 units a year, the new rail link that has moved 50,000 lorry journeys from road to rail and the world's largest industrial shredder, which recycles material from 450 end-of-life vehicles an hour; congratulates Newport Wastesavers on its award as the prime UK household waste recycling group; and urges visiting ministers to inspect Newport's unique potential for renewable power enterprises through harnessing the world's second highest tidal range.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
