Concessionary Bus Travel For Pensioners And The Disabled
EDM number 420 in 2005-06, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 27/06/2005.
That this House welcomes the announcement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer of the introduction of free bus travel for pensioners and disabled people from April 2006; notes that free travel relates to the local authority boundaries, meaning that pensioners and disabled people in Chorley would only be able to travel free within borough council boundaries, leaving them at a disadvantage compared to residents who live in metropolitan areas; recognises that many people travel across borough council boundaries; and calls for the scheme to be extended to operate on a regional basis.
