That this House welcomes the Government's paper `A Strategy for Developing Carbon Abatement Technologies for Fossil Fuel Use' and the pledge to make £25 million available for carbon abatement technology research to enable fossil fuels to be burned with reduced carbon dioxide emissions, thus increasing the scope for UK deep-mined coal to be declared a strategic supply; and calls on the Government to facilitate further development of the industry by introducing a new enhanced investment aid scheme.
