Lifelong Learning, Accessibility And Funding
EDM number 313 in 2005-06, proposed by Hywel Francis on 13/06/2005.
That this House notes the changing age patterns of the UK population and endorses the words of the Prime Minister in support of adult learners' week that `learning is good for your health, your self-esteem and your employability, whatever your age, stage or previous education'; recognises that success in raising the proportion of young people in education, training and apprenticeships may come at a price of fewer places for adult learners; and calls on the Government to secure a wide range of affordable and accessible adult learning opportunities across the UK by levelling up funding so that there is no significant reduction in community and college-based learning opportunities for adults in September 2005.
