Encouraging Consumers Into Green Cars
EDM number 2912 in 2005-06, proposed by Chris Huhne on 06/11/2006.
That this House welcomes the Stern Report in helping to bring climate change to the top of the Government agenda; understands that motor vehicles contribute damaging levels of carbon dioxide emissions which contribute to global warming; notes that new research conducted by YouGov shows that 73 per cent. of drivers would invest in a low emissions car if it was cheaper to buy and 70 per cent. would use an environmentally friendly car if it cost less to run than their old car; and calls upon the Government to use the taxation system to give more incentives to consumers to purchase low emission vehicles.
